The killing of journalist Lyra McKee in Derry, Northern Ireland, on 18 April 2019, remains officially unsolved. McKee was shot while observing a riot in the Creggan area.
Last month, three men were found not guilty of her murder following a two-year trial. To date, there has been one conviction related to the case, for possessing the gun that killed her.
A member of the republican paramilitary group the New IRA reportedly fired the weapon. Police work in this part of Northern Ireland is described as being met with violent intimidation or silence.
A new three-part documentary, 'The Murder Detective', explores the investigation into McKee's death. The programme, which was granted access to the Police Service of Northern Ireland's terror-related murder investigation, focuses on Detective Jason Murphy, who is leading the hunt for the killer. The investigation relies heavily on CCTV footage of the crime.
The documentary also features previously unaired footage from an MTV documentary being made by Reggie Yates at the time of the riot. Yates was present with individuals suspected of having links to the New IRA's political wing, Saoradh, before withdrawing from the scene prior to the shots being fired.
