A man has been arrested following the discharge of a firearm outside York Mosque and Islamic Centre on Bull Lane. North Yorkshire Police stated the incident took place at about 02:15 BST on Thursday.
The arrested individual is a 44-year-old white UK national from York. Police said he left the scene in a silver vehicle before being apprehended and remains in custody for questioning.
Authorities believe the weapon involved was an air rifle, and no one was reported to have been hurt. North Yorkshire Police confirmed there would be high-visibility patrols around the mosque and officers would meet with the imam. The force also stated it was too early to determine the motivation behind the incident.
