Martha Goddard, 51, has been found guilty of carrying out a campaign of criminal damage using homemade incendiary devices in Norwich. A 12-day trial at Woolwich Crown Court concluded on Tuesday with Goddard found guilty of five counts of criminal damage and two counts of making explosives.
The attacks caused thousands of pounds of damage at a McDonald's restaurant, two Starbucks outlets, and outside the BBC offices in the Forum building. Police found evidence linking Goddard to the attacks, including materials for making gunpowder and thermite, and confession letters on her computer.
Neighbours described Goddard as an outlier, with one stating she practised martial arts with a samurai sword in public. Camera footage from doorbells and CCTV was used in the prosecution's case. Goddard was found not guilty of attempting to cause explosions and cleared of charges related to a fire at Tacolneston transmitting station.
