A man has been charged with misconduct in public office in connection with the alleged sharing of addresses of properties housing asylum seekers in Thetford, Norfolk.
James Jobson, 62, from Costessey, near Norwich, works for Serco, a company that provides accommodation for asylum seekers. He appeared at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Monday.
Norfolk Police stated the charge relates to the "release of information relating to a number of addresses in Thetford, which were later targeted during several nights of violent disorder in the town." Houses in St John's Way, Bracken Road, Clover Way, Elm Road and Chester Way were reportedly targeted earlier this month.
Mr Jobson has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Norwich Crown Court on 14 September. A spokesperson for Serco said the company is cooperating fully with the police regarding the ongoing legal process.
