A 77-year-old Walmart shopper, Bert Atienza, died on June 8 from blunt head trauma, one day after he was allegedly attacked inside a store in Norfolk, Virginia. Police responded to a report of an assault at approximately 3:20 pm on June 7.

US media reports indicate Atienza had confronted a teenage employee over a shopping cart incident involving his wife. Surveillance video reportedly shows Atienza being approached and attacked by the employee's parents, Travis White and Erika Mitchell, while their daughter watched.

Atienza was reportedly shoved, grabbed, and punched, then pushed into a shelving unit before falling to the floor, where one suspect allegedly kicked him. He was found unresponsive and later died from his injuries, which medical officials ruled a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

White, 44, and Mitchell, 42, were arrested days later and are being held without bond in the Norfolk jail. Their teenage daughter has also been charged with assault and battery, aggravated malicious wounding, and conspiracy to commit a felony, and is being held at the Norfolk juvenile detention center.
