Six arrests were made following the London derby between Millwall and West Ham on Saturday, where 400 police officers were deployed. The Met Police stated that the match took place "without significant disruption" across south east London.
The arrests, made as of 4pm on Saturday, 19 September, included offences such as tailgating, assault on a police officer, and entering or attempting to enter a stadium while intoxicated. All individuals remain in custody.
A Section 35 dispersal order is in effect until 23:59hrs on Saturday, allowing officers to remove anyone causing disorder. Separately, a Live Facial Recognition deployment in London Bridge resulted in three arrests unrelated to football, including one for suspected possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a bladed article.
During the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, West Ham striker Taty Castellanos was accused of spitting at Millwall goalkeeper Filip Marschall. Marschall reportedly lodged a complaint with match officials after the incident in the 65th minute. Both managers stated they were aware of the allegation but had not yet reviewed footage or spoken to Castellanos.
