Robert Sabat, 60, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 17 years for the murder of his former partner, Dickiesha Nurse. Sabat pleaded guilty to stabbing Ms Nurse, 42, at her flat in Tulse Hill, south London, last October.
The Old Bailey heard that Sabat was released on licence from HMP Wandsworth on 17 October 2025. This was the day after he had been sentenced to a 12-month jail term for possession of a bladed article and harassment.
When arrested on suspicion of Ms Nurse's murder, Sabat reportedly told officers he had killed before and was planning a "murder spree". Prosecutor Catherine Farrelly KC stated that officers found Ms Nurse on a bed with a pillow over her face and multiple stab wounds.
Sabat had served 40% of his 12-month sentence, rather than the previous 50% requirement, in line with a government change to offenders' automatic release dates that began in September 2025.
