Manchester City are reportedly nearing the signing of Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, a move that could facilitate Rodri's anticipated transfer to Barcelona. The 18-year-old midfielder has agreed to personal terms with City, though the club is still finalising the deal with Lille, who reportedly value Bouaddi at approximately €100m (£85m).
City's new manager, Enzo Maresca, is believed to be keen on integrating the Moroccan player into the first-team squad immediately for the upcoming season. This Sunday, City will face Arsenal in the Community Shield, before starting their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth on August 23.
Barcelona is confident in securing Rodri from City, but will need to present an improved offer following the rejection of their initial €45m bid last week. The sale of Ferran Torres, who is reportedly of interest to Paris Saint-Germain, could help finance Rodri's purchase. City is reportedly resigned to the sale of the 30-year-old, who has one year remaining on his contract.
If the Bouaddi deal is completed, he would join Elliot Anderson, who arrived earlier this summer from Nottingham Forest for £116m, in Maresca's refreshed midfield. The team has also seen the departure of Bernardo Silva this summer.
