The club was initially charged in February 2023 with alleged breaches spanning from 2009 to 2018, including failures to provide accurate financial information and details for player and manager payments, as well as non-compliance with UEFA and Premier League financial rules.
City has consistently denied any wrongdoing. The club has stated its position remains consistent with its February 2023 statement and that it has diligently respected due process. An appeal from City is anticipated to be a formality, with their legal team, led by Lord Pannick KC, having previously helped overturn a two-year European ban in 2020.
The Premier League declined to comment on the case. Sanctions, which could include points deductions, financial penalties, or even removal from the Premier League, are not expected to be announced immediately. The process is ongoing, with significant elements still to be completed, and the official verdict from the independent panel is yet to be made public.
