Moses Itauma was transported to hospital as a precautionary measure following his IBF world heavyweight title bout. The 21-year-old was stopped in the ninth round by Filip Hrgovic, who became Croatia’s first champion in the division.
Itauma was carried from The O2 ring on a stretcher after the explosive clash for the vacant belt. Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that Itauma was taken for a check-up, stating, “It’s precautionary that he’s gone to the hospital. That’s what we always do to make sure because the most important thing is the boxer’s health.”
Warren also mentioned that Itauma had done something to his leg and was quite tired after a high-paced fight. He added that Itauma's mental state would need time to recover and that discussions about his career would take place in two weeks or a month.
