A murder inquiry has been launched by Leicestershire Police after a man in his 20s died in hospital on Thursday, days after a reported assault in Leicester.
Police were contacted on Wednesday by the family of the man, who was being treated for life-threatening injuries at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham. He had been found on Narborough Road at approximately 06:30 BST on Monday.
A 31-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy to commit murder. They are currently in custody.
Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, urged witnesses or anyone with information to contact police, noting the incident occurred on a main route at a time when people may have been travelling.
