Newcastle United have bolstered their squad with the £29.5m transfer of right-back Amar Dedic from Benfica. The 24-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international becomes the Magpies' sixth summer signing.
Dedic cited the opportunity to reunite with manager Matthias Jaissle, under whom he previously played at RB Salzburg, as a significant factor in his move. He expressed his happiness to play for Jaissle again, calling it a "special feeling and a real honour to join Newcastle." Dedic is expected to make his debut at right-back in Sunday's home fixture against Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Sunderland are reportedly set to announce the signing of 20-year-old Toulouse defender Dayann Methalie for £25.6m. The France Under-21 international, who made 28 Ligue One appearances last season, has signed a five-year contract and is comfortable playing at left-back, left-sided central defence, or wing-back.
