The Notting Hill Carnival, Europe's largest street carnival, is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary from 29 to 31 August 2026. Millions of people are expected to attend the annual event in west London.
Extensive road closures will be implemented across the surrounding area, beginning at 06:00 on Sunday 30 August and remaining until 06:00 on Tuesday 1 September. Numerous parking bays will also be suspended during this period. Traffic will generally be diverted around a designated ring route.
Several Tube stations will have restrictions or closures on Sunday and Monday, including Ladbroke Grove, which will be closed all day. TfL recommends travelling to the festival via Paddington Station.
The Mayor of London has announced an additional £4.66m for this year's carnival, intended to improve safety and help organisers manage overcrowding. Welfare hubs will be located at Powis Square, Emslie Horniman's Pleasance Gardens, Shrewsbury Gardens, and Venture Community Centre.
Event organisers advise attendees to check the weather and prepare accordingly, recommending sunscreen, a hat, loose clothing, and plenty of water in hot conditions, or waterproofs and comfortable footwear if it rains. Mobile phone signals may be unreliable in crowded areas, so agreeing on a meeting point is suggested, and children should carry parent or guardian contact details.
