Quaglino's, the St James restaurant, has been revamped ahead of its hundredth birthday. The redesign aims to bring a sense of '90s hedonism back to the London restaurant scene, according to Ron Cregan, historian for Evolv Group, which operates the venue.
New dessert options include chocolate cigars and chocolate ashtrays, available at a kiosk within the restaurant named 'Tabac'. The redesign also features multiple stages for daily live music, a seafood bar, and a cocktail bar, with the intention of dividing the restaurant "into a series of stories."
Functionality has also been a focus, with half-metre raised podiums added to ensure good views of musicians from every table. A new champagne bar is also positioned with a prime view of the performers and the dining room. Consultant chef Miller Prada, a Colombian Michelin-starred cook, is overseeing the culinary direction, which includes recreations of dishes reportedly eaten by the late Queen.
