Venezuelan striker Kevin Kelsy, 22, is reportedly set to join Rangers, with a transfer deal agreed. The Portland Timbers forward has had an eventful career, including playing in Ukraine during the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Kelsy began his career in Venezuela with Mineros de Guayana, making his debut at 16 in 2021. He later moved to Europe, signing for Shakhtar Donetsk after a spell with Boston River in Uruguay. During his two title-winning seasons with Shakhtar, he scored nine goals in 37 appearances.
He then moved to Major League Soccer, initially on loan to FC Cincinnati in 2024, where he scored six goals in 29 appearances. This led to a move to Portland Timbers, where he has scored nine goals in 34 games.
Rangers manager Derek McInnes made Lawrence Shankland captain after James Tavernier's departure, but Shankland has not been a certain starter. Ryan Naderi became McInnes' preferred forward after Youssef Chermiti's injury. If Kelsy joins, one central striker could leave Ibrox, with former Aberdeen striker Miovski identified as the favourite to depart.
