Noël Coward's 'Hay Fever', one of his most performed works, is currently being staged at Wyndham's Theatre in London. The production features Richard E Grant and Christine Baranski in key roles.

Richard E Grant takes on the part of David, a narcissist-novelist, described as bringing his 'trademark shock-haired vigour' to the character. Christine Baranski plays Judith Bliss, a retired stage diva who becomes a country hostess, though her technically sound RP accent is noted as oddly constraining her performance.

The play, directed by Emily Burns, is set on Frankie Bradshaw's 'sumptuous set' at the Blisses' Berkshire home. Ophelia Lovibond's portrayal of Sorel is highlighted as the most vital character, radiating charm and self-awareness.

While some comic timing on the first of multiple press nights was not yet fully established, a stronger second half suggests the production will offer 'plenty of classic Coward to enjoy' once it beds in.
