Television personality Richard Hammond has stated he is "a little uncomfortable" with his daughter Izzy's Formula E racing career. The admission comes as Hammond, 56, has experienced two serious crashes during his time on Top Gear.
In 2006, Hammond was left in a medically induced coma after a crash while filming the BBC show. Earlier this year, his daughter Izzy, 25, crashed into a concrete barrier at a Formula E influencer event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, though she suffered no injuries.
Hammond told Metro that he finds her career "a little uncomfortable because I know from personal experience that things can and do go wrong." He added, "I'm a father, like any other father. I don't want to see my little girl hurt, but I don't want to hold her back from opportunities that present themselves."
Separately, Top Gear is scheduled to return to the BBC almost four years after host Freddie Flintoff was seriously injured in a high-speed crash during filming in Surrey. Production of the 34th series was halted following the incident, and the BBC had announced it would "rest" the show.
