A fire at Shiregreen Working Men's Club in Sheffield, known for its appearance in the 1997 film The Full Monty, is believed to have been started deliberately. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service reported that the blaze broke out just before 16:45 BST on Sunday.

Eight fire engines and a turntable ladder were dispatched to Shiregreen Lane, with no injuries reported. Crews left the scene just after midnight and were scheduled to return to check for remaining hotspots.

The building has been derelict since its closure in 2019. A fire service spokesperson stated that this latest blaze is also believed to have been started deliberately, following a similar incident last year.

In 2020, Sheffield City Council rejected an application to demolish the club after a petition to save it gathered over 1,000 signatures. Ann Bentley, who organised the petition and worked at the club for 15 years, expressed her devastation at the news of another fire.
