Spotify announced on Tuesday that using Siri on iPhones updated to iOS 27 is now easier. Users no longer need to say “on Spotify” when asking Siri to play music or other content from the streaming service.
Instead, users can simply state what they want to hear, and Spotify will play the content. This includes specific tracks, albums, podcasts, audiobooks, or broader requests such as “play workout music,” or features like “play my DJ.”
Siri's voice control can also be used for personalized recommendations, resuming podcasts, searching libraries, or creating a Prompted Playlist with AI. Spotify stated that removing the extra voice command aims to make hands-free listening feel more natural.
This new feature works because Siri can now learn a user's music app preference. If Spotify is consistently used, Siri will automatically direct audio requests to that app. It is available globally for users with an iPhone 15 Pro or later, outside the EU, provided Apple Intelligence is enabled in Settings.
