Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry suffered a right ankle injury during an open practice session, just two days before the 2026/27 NBA season is set to commence. The incident initially sparked concern, with speculation of an ACL tear.

However, subsequent reports have indicated that the injury is merely to his right ankle, and Curry himself maintained he was "fine" to alleviate fears. The Warriors are scheduled to begin their season against the Lakers on Wednesday night.

Head coach Steve Kerr had previously discussed managing Curry's playing time due to a nagging right knee injury that caused him to miss 39 games last season. Kerr noted the dilemma of balancing fan expectations to see star players with the need to manage veteran athletes.
