Three teenage boys from Sydney's Scots College have appeared in court for the first time on charges including aggravated sexual assault.

  • Two boys aged 14 and one aged 13 are charged in connection with an alleged incident on 22 July.
  • The trio are on bail and have not yet entered a plea.
  • The court issued an AVO preventing the boys from approaching within 200 metres of the alleged victim.

Three teenage boys from Sydney's Scots College have appeared in Surry Hills children's court for the first time, facing charges related to the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

The boys, two aged 14 and one 13, remained outside the courtroom during the hearing on Tuesday. They are currently on bail and are yet to enter a plea.

The court heard that an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) has been issued, prohibiting the trio from being within 200 metres of the girl they allegedly assaulted. The charges stem from an alleged incident on Wednesday, 22 July.

One 14-year-old and the 13-year-old are charged with aggravated sexual assault in the company of others and two counts of aggravated sexual touching. The other 14-year-old faces charges of aggravated sexual assault in the company of others and one count of aggravated sexual touching.

Judge Sue Duncombe warned media outlets about the need to protect the teenagers' identities, noting that some names had reportedly been revealed online. The matter has been adjourned for eight weeks until 20 October.

Scots College stated on 13 August that it is cooperating with police regarding the alleged incident, which occurred outside school hours.
