Baltimore hardcore band Turnstile made their debut on Saturday Night Live on October 3, performing 'Birds' and a medley of 'I Care' and 'Dull'. The band served as musical guests on the second episode of the US sketch show's 52nd season, which was hosted by Dakota Johnson.
For their first performance, Brendan Yates and the band played 'Birds', a track from their fourth album, 'Never Enough'. Later in the episode, Turnstile returned to perform 'I Care' before transitioning into 'Dull'.
The appearance followed a significant period for the band, including the release of 'Never Enough' in June last year. 'Birds' received the Best Metal Performance award at the Grammys in February, while 'Never Enough' was named Best Rock Album.
Following their Grammy wins, Turnstile spoke out against "heightened state violence" globally. Brendan Yates later told NME that artists should use their platforms to reflect world events.
In August, the band released 'Never Enough: Versions', a reworked version of the album featuring collaborators such as Elton John and Hayley Williams. Rosalía is scheduled to be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live next Saturday, October 10.
