Eight-time Olympic champion sprinter Usain Bolt has registered to play for a veterans' Sunday league football team in Manchester. The 40-year-old Jamaican is listed as a registered player for Wythenshawe Vets FC on the Football Association's Full-Time website.
Wythenshawe Vets FC, an over-35s team based in south Manchester, competes in the Premier Division of the Cheshire Veterans Football League. Their squad for the current season reportedly features several former Premier League players, including Emile Heskey, Oumar Niasse, Antonio Valencia, Papiss Cisse, Stephen Ireland, Nedum Onuoha, Joleon Lescott, and Danny Drinkwater.
Bolt, the world record holder for the 100m and 200m, retired from athletics in 2017 and subsequently pursued a career in professional football. He scored twice in a friendly for Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners in 2018, signing a contract before leaving eight weeks later.
