Eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt appears set to play for a star-studded Sunday league team in Greater Manchester. His name has been listed on the Football Association’s Full-Time website as part of the Wythenshawe FC Veterans squad.
The club, which competes in the Cheshire Veterans League, boasts a roster of former professional footballers. Managed by Stephen Ireland, a former Manchester City and Republic of Ireland midfielder, the team includes Premier League veterans such as Danny Drinkwater, Antonio Valencia, Joleon Lescott, Emile Heskey, Marc Albrighton, Nedum Onuoha, and Papiss Cissé.
Bolt, now 40, is a known football enthusiast. After retiring from sprinting in 2017, he pursued a professional football career, including a stint with Australia's Central Coast Mariners. The ardent Manchester United supporter has also regularly participated in Soccer Aid charity matches.
