Steven Spielberg has opened up on the casting process for the iconic role of Indiana Jones, revealing that Tom Selleck was initially considered for the part but ultimately dropped out due to contractual obligations with the network behind Magnum PI.
'We wanted Tom Selleck, but it was a situation where he was committed to Magnum PI at the time, and that was the problem,' Spielberg explained in a recent interview.
The role eventually went to Harrison Ford, who went on to become synonymous with the character and play it in multiple films, including Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
While Selleck's decision to drop out may have been a disappointment for fans of the film at the time, it's hard to imagine anyone else playing the role with the same level of charisma and charm as Ford.
