A man accused of murdering former MP Ann Widdecombe in July has appeared in Westminster Magistrates' Court facing a new allegation of preparing terrorist acts. Joshua Kerry, 28, is alleged to have carried out online reconnaissance of "prominent people and institutions... including identifying the home address of Nigel Farage", according to prosecutor Kashif Malik.
The court heard that damage was found on the doorframe at Mr Farage's home, with the prosecutor stating "the inference is that an attempt was made to gain entry to the house". In April 2025, Mr Farage's partner reportedly found damage to their front door and a bottle of lighter fluid in the porch.
Mr Kerry, who was charged in July with the murder of 78-year-old Ms Widdecombe, spoke only to confirm his address and date of birth. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday.
