Zheng Qinwen has secured a historic victory at the China Open in Beijing, becoming the first Chinese woman to win the tournament. She defeated Mirra Andreeva in straight sets, with a final score of 7-5, 6-4.

The 24-year-old, who entered the tournament as a wildcard ranked 54th in the world, saved three set points in the opening set against the fourth-seeded Andreeva. This triumph marks Zheng's first WTA 1000 title and her sixth overall, bringing an end to a two-year title drought.

Zheng expressed her joy, stating, "The feeling was incredible. To win here in Beijing in front of my home crowd is one of my dreams." Following her victory, she treated the home crowd to some karaoke. Despite the loss, 19-year-old Andreeva is expected to rise to number three in the world rankings, while Zheng is set to climb 31 spots to number 23.
